RUB signs MoU with DGPC

25 July J012:      The Royal University of Bhutan, represented by its Vice Chancellor, Dasho (Dr.) Pema Thinley, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), represented by its Managing Director, Dasho Chhewang Rinzin on 27 June at the Office of the Vice Chancellor, RUB. As part of the Memorandum, DGPC agreed to provide an amount of Nu.10 million over a period of five years to RUB to support the recruitment of faculty at RUB’s two engineering colleges -- College of Science and Technology in Phuntsholing  and Jigme Namgyel Polytechnic in Dewathang. It is hoped that the support will help address faculty shortage and help increase the intake of engineering students, especially in civil engineering in the two colleges. DGPC will also have a reliable source of engineering graduates to meet its HR needs. DGPC will disburse Nu. 2 million each year from the grant for a period of five years.   


The DGPC delegation was led by its Managing Director, Dasho Chhewang Rinzin who was accompanied by Tshering Lhamo, Legal Officer and Yamraj Khapangni, Manager, DHI Infra. Present at the signing of the MoU with the Vice Chancellor were Gajel Lhundup, Registrar, Yangka, Director of Academic Affairs, Dorji Thinley, Director of Research and External Relations, and Tshering Choden, Program Officer.
