RUB Colleges Begin their Winter Break
17 DECEMBER 2011: Winter vacation commences in all of RUB’s ten constituent colleges, giving the students and faculty a break from their hectic academic and extracurricular programmes during the past year.
As usual, most of the colleges will run a number of winter programmes on their campuses. Samtse College of Education (SCE) will conduct the winter residential school for in-service teachers studying for their Bachelor of Education degrees through a distance mode. SCE will also run a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Guidance and Counseling, a Lead Teachers’ program in mathematics and English education, and a few other workshops. The college will also be the host to a Choshed Layrim where the faculty will participate. In the other teacher education college in Paro -- Paro College of Education, the campus will be abuzz with residential schools for part-time M.Ed, B.Ed in Dzongkha education by distance mode, and Diploma in Leadership and Management programmes.
The College of Natural Resources in Lobesa will run a School Agriculture Programme. While the College of Science and Technology in Phuntsholing will be developing a course called “Environmental Friendly Road Construction”, the Jigme Namgyal Polytechnic in Dewathang will be working on their new IT programme.
The Royal Institute of Health Sciences will host a SAARC Development Workshop, while the National Institute of Traditional Medicine will conduct a Training of Trainers and & Research Workshop in the month of January.
Most of the colleges commence their spring 2012 session in the first week of February.
