Prospectus 2010-11
The Royal University of Bhutan is a mandala of ten colleges, spread across the country. The dispersed nature of the Colleges allows flexibility of place and fields of study. Each campus has its unique characteristic focusing on special areas of study. This prospectus provides information on the programmes offered in the University by the member Colleges.
Our priority is to provide tertiary education that is of relevance and good quality fulfilling the need for an educated and skilled population. The University is committed not only to provide education to equip our graduates with academic competence, but also to develop responsible citizens with GNH values and global awareness.
The University plans to increase access to tertiary education to meet the increasing number of youth finishing secondary education as well as provide opportunities for continuing education . Our strategic policies include:
- Enhancing admission to the University to approximately 20% of the age cohort by 2012.
- Admitting at least 35% of its undergraduate students in diploma programmes and not more than 65% in degree programmes.
- Offering postgraduate programmes, and Continuing education to 10% of its students by 2012.
These translates to increasing the capacity of the University by at least 58% within the next three years. On behalf of the university, I wish you all the best with your choice of programmes and Colleges. I look forward to meeting you in one of our University campuses.
Tashi Delek!
