1st ANNUAL FACULTY RESEARCH MEET
1st ANNUAL FACULTY RESEARCH MEET
Insights from PhD Journeys
Royal University of Bhutan
18-19 November 2011
Venue: Executive Centre, Royal Thimphu College
The Annual Faculty Research Meet (AFRM) is part of a research support system provided to faculty researchers in the Royal University of Bhutan. It is an event that provides a discursive forum for RUB faculty and international scholars to share experiences, insights and perspectives from their research projects and scholarly works, including those from higher degree research studies. AFRM also includes talks by distinguished scholars whose works have impacted knowledge, policy and practice in their fields of engagement locally and globally. Participants will not only hear keynote addresses from experts but will also benefit from specialized research skills workshops and resources made available at the meet. Equally importantly, it gives researchers the chance to offer collegial support to each other, provide feedback and create critical networks of support. Since research does not to take place in a vacuum, AFRM interactions and exchanges will expose faculty researchers to research frameworks and models that others are using and against which they can check their own frameworks, methodologies and theoretical understandings. AFRM also provides an opportunity for faculty members currently pursuing PhD studies to talk about their work and get feedback on it from others and strengthen their research for eventual publication. This annual event, along with the Annual Student Research Meet (ASRM) and other research activities will help to build research capacity and enhance the R&D environment in the Royal University of Bhutan and in the country.
