XII Convocation of Sherubtse College

The Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck awarded the degree certificates to the 2006 and 2007 graduates of Sherubtse College during its 12th Convocation Ceremony held at Kanglung, Trashigang on 22 October 2009.

Addressing the 448 graduates who attended the ceremony, His Majesty said that the biggest achievement of the graduates was that they could now stand on their own feet. His Majesty reminded the graduates that the wealth of our country is its citizens. “Thus, our people have always been the jewel of the nation. We must always uphold these traditions and values of service to people and country, so that they may become stronger year after year, era upon era,” His Majesty said.

His Majesty graced the Convocation Ceremony after having walked through Narang gewog in Mongar and Durung village in Trashigang, visiting the houses and families affected by the earthquake. His Majesty expressed his grief and shared with the gathering that he would spend this winter in the Eastern Dzongkhags and personally oversee the rebuilding of the lives and properties.

The Ministers of MoEA, MoE, MoHCA, MoF, Dignitaries from Delhi University, Lam and Lopens of Trashigang Rabdey and Officials from the Eastern Dzongkhags (Tashi Yangtse, Pemagatshel, Mongar, Samdrup Jongkhar and Tashigang) and the Royal University of Bhutan attended the ceremony.
