Admission Criteria and Tuition Fee for the Academic Year 2023

  1. The online application for College of Science and Technology, Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology, Paro College of Education and three new progammes for Sherubtse College (Bachelors of Economics and Political Science, Bachelors of Digital Communications and Project Management, and Bachelors of Data Science and Data Analytics) will open from 1 March and close on 15 March 2023. Students wishing to seek admission into these Colleges may apply to the respective Colleges on the aforementioned dates. The online application links will be announced by the Royal University of Bhutan.
  2. The online application for College of Natural Resources, Gedu College of Business Studies, Jigme Namgyel engineering College, and Sherubtse College (BSc in Physics, BSc in Chemistry, BSc in Mathematics and BSc in Life Science) will be opened centrally from 22 March and close on 5 May 2023.
  3. Tuition fees and accommodation for Self-Financed Students:
    • The tuition fee is 73,977 for Arts and Humanities programmes and Nu. 91,646 for Science and Engineering programmes for the academic year 2023 – 2024. The tuition fee will increase at the rate of 2% per year.
    • The tuition fee is payable annually in two installments. 50% each in the beginning of the each semester.

The interview will test their academic proficiency (including English language and subjects contents), creativity, analytical skills, values, and character, aptitude and attitude to become a teacher.

For selection

The final selection of 100 candidates will be based on the following selection criteria.

  • Academic performance in Class X: 12%
  • Academic performance in Class XII: 28%

Performance in the interview: 60%

For class XII graduates with Language of Culture Studies Certificate(LCSC):

  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class X;
  • An minimum of an aggregate of 55% for Nyen-ng, choedjug, sumtag and Dzongkha dazhung
  • A pass mark in English

For Class XII graduates with Ringzhung stream from other schools:

  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class X;
  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class XII;
  • A minimum of 55% in Rigzhung in Class XII;
  • A pass mark in English.

For selection

The final selection of 70 candidates will be based on the following selection criteria.

  • Academic performance in Class X: 12%
  • Academic performance in Class XII: 28%
  • Performance in the interview: 60%

The candidates will be merit ranked, and 42 seats will be filled by Class XII graduates with LCSC, while 28 seats will be filled by Class XII graduates with Rignzhung stream from other schools.

Diploma in Physical Education and Sports Coaching

Class XII pass (BHSEC or equivalent) with the following specific condition:

  • A minimum of 50% each in English and Dzongkha/Dazhung in Class XII;

For shortlisting and selection

The eligible applicants will be merit ranked as per the ability rating, based on Class XII marks, for shortlisting and merit ranking will be as follows:

English – 5

Dzongkha/ Dazhung– 5

Three other subjects – 1

The top 25 applicants as per the above ability ranking will be shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a physical proficiency test (PPT), including production of a medical fitness certificate, issued by competent medical authority, and signing of a declaration to confirm their fitness for physical activities. In the event some of the 25 shortlisted candidates fail in the physical proficiency test, the opportunity will be provided to standby candidates who will also have to go through the PPT.

Special Scholarship in Leadership for 6 students.

This scholarship will be considered for applicants for the BSc in Life Science, BSc in Mathematics, BSc in Chemistry, and BSc in Physics programmes only. 

Aspiring candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

1.    Be a regular student in 2022

2.    Has served as the School Captain in the academic year 2022

3.    Meet the minimum criteria for the programme that they would be enrolling in at Sherubtse College

4.    Merit ranking will be based on aggregate of four subjects (English plus three best subjects)
