Ms Karma Tshering officially joined the Office of Vice Chancellor on 4th May 2020 as the Registrar of the Royal University of Bhutan. She holds an MEd in English Education from the University of New England, Australia and BEd in Primary Education from National Institute of Education, Samtse.
I am very happy to be here with all of you today to celebrate the 14th Convocation of the Royal University of Bhutan.
As always, I will begin by reflecting on our past. Knowledge of our past is important as it helps us to understand where we are today as a nation and perhaps also develop a sense as to where we may be headed as we look to the future.

The convocation will be held on 24th May, 2019 at Multipurpose Hall of Royal Institute of Management (RIM), Simtokha, Thimphu, Bhutan.
The Royal University of Bhutan is pleased announce that the 13th Convocation for the graduates of 2017 will be held on Monday, 25 June 2018 at Royal Institute of Management, Thimphu.
Interested students meeting the eligibility criteria can now apply for Government scholarship in Master’s in Development Practice at the College of Natural Resources, Lobesa. The admission will close on 21 June 2018. The names of the shortlisted candidates will be announced on 22 June 2018, and admission interview will be conducted on 29 June 2018.
The Royal University of Bhutan is pleased to extend the deadline for submission of applications to 25 May 2018 for 19 academic positions and 10 administrative positions for its constituent colleges and the Office of the Vice Chancellor. An annual Rimdro (ritual) was conducted in the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) on 18 April 2018. Presided over by the venerable Tshula Lopen Samten Dorji with around 10 monks from the Zhung Dratsang, the ritual was attended by the staff.

Individual candidates must prepare a short presentation (PowerPoint) and present it to the panel members on the theme “Opportunities and Challenges for Dean, Student Affairs” (specific to those shortlisted for Dean of Student Affairs) and “Opportunities and Challenges for Dean, Research and Industrial Linkages” (specific to those shortlisted for Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages). On 8th may 2017, College of Science and Technology (CST) in collaboration with University of Rostock Germany organized a two day event to bring together Bhutanese Alumni funded by the Germany Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) and to hold a seminar on ‘Modelling and simulations of Bhutan’s Hydro power plants and transmission network’
Dr. Ruland, General Secretary, DAAD addressed the gathering by sharing her happiness to meet the Bhutanese Alumni who studied in Germany. She also congratulated the successful completion of project titled ‘Modelling and simulations of Bhutan’s Hydro power plants and transmission network’ that was implemented by CST, Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) and DrukGreen Power (DGPC) and Rostock University, Germany. The project was funded by DAAD.
The executives of RUB, DGPC, BPC and Rostock University presented their organization’s status and future plans and discussed the possibilities of future collaboration. The next day 9th May 2017 will be a technical workshop on simulation and modeling of hydro power plants and transmission network.
