To commemorate the 66th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the Institute for the Gross National Happiness (iGNHaS), the Department of Research and External Relation of the Royal University of Bhutan, is launching a website called Bhutan Journal of Research and Development (BJRD) on the 10th November, the eve of His Majesty’s Birth Anniversary.

With increasing emphasis on building a knowledge-based society, the urge for creating, applying and disseminating evidence-based knowledge, RUB publishes a bi-annual journal titled Bhutan Journal of Research and Development (BJRD). It is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes a wide range of papers including theoretical or empirical research, short communication (e.g. research notes and review articles), and book reviews that can inform policy and advance knowledge relevant to Bhutan. The BJRD Website is launched to facilitate the digitalization of research publications and to make articles open-access for all. The web portal also facilitates a seamless process for journal publication by conforming to international best practices such as indexation system, setting editorial board, and abiding international committee of publication ethics.

The event will also witness the release of the Vol. 10 Number 2 Autumn 2021 Issue of the BJRD journal. This issue is published digitally using the newly launched website. It has online-ISSN (2789-5254) and individual articles with DOI(Digital Object Identifier) for easy accessibility leading to an increasing citation index. The Autumn Issue has 7 articles in total on diverse disciplines ranging from Science and Humanities to teaching and education done by the researchers from the Ministry of Education and Royal University of Bhutan.

The website will be launched at Gawa Hall in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Royal University of Bhutan, Lower Motithang at 3:30 PM in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of RUB.

  1. Bhutan Journal of Research and Development Website

BJRD is a bi-annual journal published by the Institute for the Gross National Happiness (iGNHaS) of the Royal University of Bhutan. The Journal has been publishing only in hardcopies and distributing to the colleges and other stakeholders as the main method of dissemination. Although the entire journal issue is being uploaded on the University Website during the publication, the visibility of the journal has been not encouraging with the highest viewed publications with only 2000-3000 number of viewers in span of few years.

Recommended by 495th SMT on 30th April 2021 and subsequently endorsed by 34th RIC meeting on 8th June 2021, the BJRD Website is developed and launched to facilitate the seamless publication of the journal online with an aim to increase the credibility of the journal through the use of indexing to the renowned yet relevant international indexation platforms. Bhutan Journal of Research and Development (BJRD) aims to advance research and scholarship in all fields of social, physical and biological science and humanities relevant to the Kingdom of Bhutan.
