The Entrepreneurs Festival

The 2nd Entrepreneurs Festival by the Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (DTG) kicked off on 17th October 2019 where various entrepreneurs displayed their products and participated in the Entrepreneurs Sales Pitch.

Four students of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) also pitched their business ideas for the Best Student Entrepreneur Award. Yoezer Lhamo Dorji of Sherubste College pursing BA Population and Development Studies pitched on ‘Shercol Laundry Service’ that would provide affordable laundry services to the students. Tej Bdr. Ghalley of Gedu College of Business Studies pursuing BBA Marketing pitched on ‘Living Argo’ and its about producing pastes and sauces using various local ingredients. Karma Tshering Tshomo of Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology pursuing BCA pitched on ‘Revive Kitchen’ and it’s about helping people set up their kitchens. Finally Phuntshok Dechen Yangchen of Royal Thimphu College majoring in Finance pitched on ‘Gurum’, making candies using spices and herbs.  

The festival will also take place simultaneously in the Colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) across the country from 17-20th October. The festivals will include mini-market fair, debate, idea completion, traditional art painting, entrepreneurs visit and panel discussions.

A total of 13 entrepreneurs will also visit Gedu College of Business Studies at Gedu, Norbuling Rigter College in Paro and College of Natural Resources at Punakha to talk about opportunities for young people in pursuing entrepreneurship on 19th October.

The festival is organized to provide a platform for social entrepreneurs to share their innovations, inspire young aspiring entrepreneurs and also to connect with the relevant stakeholders and partners.

The Royal University of Bhutan is one of the Educational Institute Partners of Druk Tshongrig Gatoen. The closing ceremony will be held at the Convention Hall of the RUB on 20th October.
