The Resident Coordinator of the UN launches website and e-Book

To commemorate the Joyous occasion of the 65th Birth Anniversary of the 4th Druk Gyalpo, the Department of Research and External Relations, Royal University of Bhutan organised an event to launch a website and an e-Book on 11th November 2020.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Gerald Daly, the Resident Coordinator of the UN in Bhutan along with the Vice Chancellor graced the event by launching the website and the e-book.

Mr Daly gave opening remarks in which he stated "The Himalayas is the third pole on this planet. This is the key reason for the work we are doing is so important. His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo is the architect of the constitution, the constitution reminds us that those of us who are citizens of this great country are the trustees of the environment. We are following true on our responsibility given to every citizen of Bhutan. As I understand it, Bhutan Himalayan Climate Studies is given the practical testament towards being the trustees and International partners who are joining you today are assisting you in your trusteeship."

The Bhutan Himalayan Climate Studies website will serve as a hub for interactions between climate researchers, government decision-makers and operational staff to bridge the gap between climate adaption research, policy and operations. The website will be updated on regular basis on news of educational workshops, projects and research papers. The e-book titled 'Researching New Heights Through Policy Research and Practice' The booklet is published with an aim to assist the policymakers to frame an evidenced-based policy and decisions for the country. The e-Book will soon be available on the RUB website.
