A total of 22 candidates were selected through an open competitive interview and recruited for various academic posts in the Colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan received a 2-day induction programme.
The induction was conducted to acquaint them with the values, rules and regulations of the University as well as their roles in the University. Out of 22, 10 attended the programme virtually from Sherubtse College, College of Science and Technology and Jigme Namgyel Engineering College.
The Vice Chancellor, Dasho Nidup Dorji, in his opening address, made insightful remarks encouraging the future educators to work hard, stay positive and keep on learning to make our graduates capable and productive citizens. He also informed that the RUB will do its best to provide an environment where the faculty members will be able to learn and grow in their area of interest.
Some of the expectations shared by the future educators were to get guidance from the senior lecturers, challenge themselves, excel in their own fields, and to work hard to fulfil the vision and mission of the University.
Over the two days, they were not only briefed on the roles and responsibilities, policies and procedure of the RUB but also familiarised on the Performance Management Systems (PMS) and Individual Work Plan (IWP).
Besides educating them on the opportunities to grow and contribute, they were also made aware of the challenges and how they can contribute in order to overcome them.
The new faculty members received their appointment orders along with Tashi Khadar from the VC on the Closing Ceremony of the induction programme.
