The Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) hosted a Certificate Award Ceremony for 24 tour guides completing the first level (A1.1) of the Conversational French Language Class on 19th August 2021 at the Office of Vice Chancellor.
The three-month beginner-level French language course started on 31st May 2021. The 24 tour guides attended the course with fund support from the Tourism Council Bhutan.
The Ceremony was attended by the Director General and Officials from the Tourism Council of Bhutan, Country Director, French Institute in India, Mr. Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens along with his two colleagues joined the Ceremony over Zoom. From the RUB Vice Chancellor and Director of Planning and Resources attended the Ceremony.
Mr. Lebrun-Damiens in his keynote address congratulated the tour guides and expressed his appreciation to RUB and the TCB for this partnership. Similarly, the Director General in his keynote address congratulated the guides for completing the beginner level course. He emphasized on the importance of tour guides and their role in upholding the quality of services of the tourism sector. He further shared the need to have tour guides dedicated to the French tourists therefore the same group of guides would continue on to the next level of the course to enhance both the language proficiency and the cultural understanding.
22 tour guides will continue to the next level of class until they reach an advance stage of French Language Proficiency. The next level of the course will begin from 1st September 2021 and go till November 2021.
