Admission into RUB Programmes for the Academic Year 2025

  1. The online application for College of Science and Technology, Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology, Paro College of Education, Gedu College of Business Studies, Samtse College of Education and three new programmes of Sherubtse College (Bachelor of Economics and Political Science; Bachelor of Digital Communication and Project Management; and Bachelor of Data Science and Data Analytics) will open on 1st March and close on 15th March 2025. Students wishing to seek admission into these Colleges may apply to the respective Colleges on the aforementioned dates. The online application links will be announced by the Royal University of Bhutan.
  2. The online application for College of Natural Resources, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, and Sherubtse College (BSc in Physics, BSc in Chemistry, BSc in Mathematics and BSc in Life Science) will open centrally on 15th April and close on 5th May 2025.
  3. Tuition fees for self-financed students for the Academic Year 2025-2026:
    • Arts and Humanities programmes is 76,966 and Nu. 95,349 for Science and Engineering programmes. The tuition fee will increase at the rate of 2% per year.
    • The tuition fee is payable annually in two installments. 50% each in the beginning of the each semester.

For class XII graduates with Language of Culture Studies Certificate (LCSC):

  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class X;
  • An minimum of an aggregate of 55% for Nyen-ngag, Choenjug, Sumtag and Dzongkha/Dazhung
  • A pass mark in English

For Class XII graduates with Rigzhung stream from other schools:

  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class X;
  • A minimum of 60% in Dzongkha in Class XII;
  • A minimum of 55% in Rigzhung in Class XII;
  • A pass mark in English.

Shortlisting

Eligible applicants will be merit ranked based on their academic achievements in Classes X and XII in the ratio of 30% to 70% respectively. Of these, a total of 140 will be shortlisted for face-to-face interview in the following manner:

  • 84 (60% of 140 for LCSC applicants)
  • 56 (40% of 140 for applicants with Rigzhung stream from other schools)

The interview will test their proficiency in communication skills, creativity, analytical skills, collaborative skills, Bhutanese values, and character, aptitude and attitude to become a teacher.

Selection

The final selection of 70 candidates will be based on the following criteria.

  • Academic performance in Class X: 12%
  • Academic performance in Class XII: 28%
  • Performance in the interview: 60%

The candidates will be merit ranked, and 42 seats will be filled by Class XII graduates with LCSC, while 28 seats will be filled by Class XII graduates with Rigzhung stream from other schools.

The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a physical proficiency test (PPT), including production of a medical fitness certificate issued by a competent medical authority, and signing of a declaration to confirm their fitness for physical activities, and a selection interview. The candidates will be merit ranked based on the ability rating and the section interview, out of which the top 35 will be selected.

Special Scholarship in Leadership for 6 Students

Out of 6 scholarships, 2 Scholarships will be awarded for Bachelor of Economics and Political Science/ Bachelor of Digital Communication and Project Management/Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics programmes. The remaining 4 scholarships will be considered for BSc in Life Science/BSc in Mathematics/BSc in Chemistry/BSc in Physics programmes.

Aspiring candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

·       Be a regular student in 2024

·       Should have served as School Captain in the academic year 2024

·       Meet the minimum criteria for the programme that they would be enrolling in at the College

Merit ranking will be based on aggregate of four subjects (English plus three best subjects) for 4 slots in BSc programmes. For 2 slots in Bachelor of Economics and Political Science/Bachelor of Digital Communication and Project Management/Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics programmes, merit ranking will be based on Data Visualization Test and Interview.
