The Royal University of Bhutan signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Department of Culture, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs
Seven Colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), including the Royal Thimphu College, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Culture (DoC), Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs (MoHCA) on 4th January 2022 to explore collaboration relating to heritage building conservation, intangible cultural heritage, archaeology, conservation science, and museology within the curriculum framework of RUB.
The collaboration with DoC is one of the many efforts of the University to link with the industry and make its programmes relevant to the existing markets and cohesive with the national mandates. It is an off-shoot of the seminar conducted between RUB and DoC on “Embedding Cultural Heritage within the Curriculum of the Royal University of Bhutan,” where participants expressed the need to have an MoU to formalize the collaboration.
The MoU was signed by the Officiating Secretary of MoHCA on behalf of DoC and the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the seven Colleges of RUB. The Officiating Secretary and Vice Chancellor graced the signing ceremony and also released the proceedings of the Seminar convened in September 2021. The Directors and Division Chiefs from the MoHCA and the University Registrar, Directors from the Office of the Vice Chancellor, and collaborating College Presidents and their representatives attended the ceremony. The event was also attended online by participants from colleges who could not attend in person.
